Our coaches

Who are your coaches?

Our coaches are educators we've chosen carefully, fewer than 1 in 1,000 applicants make it through. But selectivity isn't really the point. We're looking for a specific kind of person: someone who genuinely lights up around children, and who cares more about your child's thinking than about being the expert in the room.

How we choose them

Screened for what can't be trained

Before any coach meets a student, they go through several stages with us: video interviews, live demo lessons where we coach them in real time to see how they respond to feedback, and conversations about how children actually learn. We're screening for three things we believe can't be trained.

Warmth

The kind a child can feel from the very first minute.

Humility to grow

The willingness to take feedback and keep getting better.

Learning by doing

A real belief that children learn by doing, not by being lectured at.

Technique we can build. These three, we can't.

It doesn't stop at hiring

They keep growing, alongside your child

Once they join, the learning continues. Each coach receives feedback specific to them (what's working in their sessions, where to focus next, which moments to lean into and which to rethink) alongside ongoing training in learning science, child development, and emotional intelligence.

The goal is for our team to keep growing alongside your child.

What this gives you

A coach who keeps your child curious

What this gives you is a coach who isn't necessarily a subject matter expert, and that's by design. What they are exceptional at is creating a space where every child feels safe to ask any question that comes to mind, however small or strange it may seem. Sometimes a coach will help a child think it through; sometimes they'll hand the question back to the child to wrestle with themselves.

In a world where answers are a Google search away, the rarer skill is helping children stay curious enough to keep asking, and confident enough to find their own way to answers. Separately, our coaches are trained to give children meaningful feedback on their work and growth, the kind that helps a child see what they're getting better at and where to push next.

The honest version

Chosen with care, held to a high bar

We won't claim every coach is perfect; no teacher anywhere is. What we will say is that they were chosen with care, paid well above what most schools offer, and held to standards we'd want for our own kids.
