We value your trust. StayQrious India Private Limited ("StayQrious", "we", "us") operates an online school delivering Cambridge-accredited, project-based education for students in Grades 1–12. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you and your child have over it.
This Policy applies to our websites (stayqrious.com and its subdomains, stayq.edu.in and its subdomains, and any other official websites, landing pages, and applications managed by StayQrious India Private Limited), our learning platform, and all related services (together, the "Services"). It should be read alongside our Terms of Use. This Policy is published in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025.
A note on how our school works: Our students are children. Parents and legal guardians, not children, create accounts, provide information, give consent, and manage the relationship with StayQrious. Throughout this Policy, "you" refers to the parent or legal guardian acting on behalf of themselves and their child.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide during enrollment and use of the Services:
- Parent/guardian details: your name, email address, phone number, location, and password.
- Student details: your child's name, date of birth, grade level, prior schooling information, educational interests, and information you share during orientation calls and assessments to help us place and support your child.
- Payment information: when you pay fees, transactions are processed by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card or bank details on our systems; our payment processors do not retain, share, or use your payment information for any other purpose.
- Learning records: work your child produces on the platform, assessment and quiz results, project submissions, doubts asked, discussion participation, and coach observations and feedback.
- Communications: information you share when you contact us for support or speak with our team.
Information collected automatically:
When you or your child use the Services, we automatically collect technical and usage information, including device type, browser type and language, IP address, operating system, log data (date, time, and pages accessed), and platform usage information such as session attendance and time spent on learning activities. This information is used to operate the platform reliably, keep accounts secure, and understand how the Services are used.
Class recordings: Live classes may be recorded for educational quality, coach development, and student support purposes.
2. Children's Data and Verifiable Parental Consent
Because our students are under 18, the DPDP Act treats all student data as children's personal data, and we treat its protection as our most important obligation.
- We obtain verifiable parental consent before processing any student's personal data. Enrollment with StayQrious can only be completed by a parent or legal guardian, whose identity and contact details are verified as part of the enrollment process. By enrolling with us, you are certifying that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and are authorised to provide such consent.
- We do not serve advertising to children. We do not show targeted advertising to students, and we do not use student data for advertising of any kind.
- We do not profile children for commercial purposes. We track learning progress, mastery of learning objectives, participation, and growth in success skills, solely to teach your child well and report progress to you. We do not use student data for behavioural advertising, commercial profiling, or any purpose unrelated to your child's education, safety, and wellbeing.
- Marketing communications go to parents only. Any marketing or advertising we do is directed at parents and guardians, never at students, and you can opt out at any time (see Section 3).
3. How We Use Personal Data
We use the data we collect to:
- deliver classes, projects, assessments, and the learning experience your child is enrolled in;
- form batches, personalize learning support, and track mastery of learning objectives;
- share progress reports and communicate with you about your child's learning;
- provide customer and technical support;
- maintain the safety of students on the platform and the security of our systems;
- process fee payments and maintain required financial records;
- improve our curriculum, teaching practices, and platform, using aggregated or de-identified data wherever possible;
- send you (the parent) service notices and information about our offerings, programs, and events;
- conduct marketing and advertising directed at parents and prospective parents. This may include using your contact details and website usage information to reach you with relevant communications, and to deliver or measure advertising on third-party platforms (for example, through audience-matching or remarketing features offered by advertising and analytics services). You may opt out of marketing communications and advertising uses of your data at any time by using the unsubscribe option in our communications or writing to us at the contact details in Section 12. Student data is never used for these purposes;
- carry out other purposes that are reasonably compatible with those described above, or for which we obtain your consent;
- comply with our legal obligations.
4. When We Share Personal Data
We do not sell, trade, or rent personal data to anyone. We share personal data only:
- With service providers who help us run the Services (see Section 5). They may process data only on our instructions, only for the purposes we specify, and under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. They have no independent right to use this data.
- With advertising and analytics partners, limited to parent and visitor data as described in Sections 3 and 5, never student data.
- As required by law, such as to comply with a legal process, enforce our Terms of Use, investigate fraud or security issues, or respond to a lawful government request.
- To protect safety, where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of a student, our users, our staff, or the public.
When we share aggregate statistics (for example, overall learning outcomes or platform usage trends), the data is aggregated and de-identified and does not identify you or your child.
5. Third-Party Services, Analytics, and Cookies
We use a range of third-party services to operate, analyse, and improve the Services. These include, but are not limited to:
- Platform and infrastructure: cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services), live video classes (Daily.co), and similar operational tools;
- Analytics and product improvement: services such as Google Analytics, PostHog, and Microsoft Clarity, which help us understand how our websites and platform are used so we can improve them;
- Business and communication tools: services such as Zoho for customer relationship management, support, and communications;
- Advertising services: platforms that help us reach parents and prospective parents with relevant information about StayQrious.
We may adopt additional or replacement services of a similar nature from time to time. All such providers are engaged under terms that restrict their use of personal data to the services they provide to us.
On student-facing pages, analytics are used strictly for operational and educational purposes, keeping the platform working, secure, and effective for learning. We do not use analytics or advertising tools to profile students or target them with advertising.
Cookies: We and our third-party services use cookies and similar technologies (small files placed on your browser) to keep you logged in, remember preferences, secure sessions, measure site usage, and, on our marketing pages, support advertising directed at parents. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent; some features of the Services may not function properly if cookies are disabled. We do not use cookies to serve targeted advertising to students.
6. Public and Shared Spaces
Some features of the Services, such as class discussions, project showcases, and collaborative work, are visible to other students and coaches in your child's batch or school community. Information shared in these spaces is visible to those participants.
From time to time, we showcase student work, for example, on our website, social media, and in school communications and marketing materials, to celebrate learning. By enrolling, you consent to this use of your child's work as described in our Terms of Use; we do not seek separate permission for each individual use. You may withdraw this consent for future uses of work that identifies your child at any time by writing to us; withdrawal does not apply to materials already published or distributed, and de-identified work may continue to be used for research, exemplars, and program improvement.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Policy:
- Active accounts: we retain account and learning data while your child is enrolled, so we can deliver and continuously improve their education.
- After your child leaves StayQrious: we retain academic records as needed to issue transcripts, certificates, and transfer documentation, and to meet our obligations as an accredited school.
- Financial records are retained as required by Indian tax and company law.
- Other data is retained only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as required by law.
When retention periods end, we delete or irreversibly anonymize the data and instruct our service providers to do the same.
8. Security
We use physical, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we hold, including encryption in transit, access controls limiting data access to authorized staff who need it for their role, and security review of our systems and vendors. No security system can guarantee absolute protection, but we work continuously to protect the data entrusted to us.
Breach notification: In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected users in the manner and timelines required under the DPDP Act and Rules.
9. Your Rights
As the parent or legal guardian (the data principal acting on behalf of your child), you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and your child, and how it has been processed;
- Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data, much of this you can do directly in your account, and we will help with the rest;
- Erase personal data that is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected for, subject to our legal and accreditation record-keeping obligations;
- Withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, through your account or by writing to us at the contact details below. Withdrawing consent will not affect processing already carried out. Please note that some data is essential to delivering the Services, and withdrawing consent for it may mean we are unable to continue your child's enrollment;
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity;
- Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (Section 12). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
We will respond to rights requests and grievances within the timelines prescribed under the DPDP Rules, and in any case within 90 days.
10. Where Data Is Processed
Our primary platform infrastructure is hosted on Amazon Web Services servers located in India. However, some of the third-party services we use, including video conferencing, analytics, communication tools, and certain offsite processing workloads (such as AI-assisted processing), may process or store data on servers located outside India.
Any cross-border transfer of personal data is carried out in accordance with the DPDP Act and the DPDP Rules, including any restrictions on transfers to specific countries or territories notified by the Government of India. If you access the Services from outside India, your data will be handled in accordance with Indian data protection law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as our Services and the law evolve. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the platform before the changes take effect, and where required by law, we will seek your consent afresh.
